Accused gunman will face death penalty in fatal Bellaire police shooting

The 21-year-old accused of fatally shooting a Bellaire police officer and a bystander during a Christmas Eve shoot-out will face the death penalty, prosecutors said Wednesday.

Harris County District Attorney Mike Anderson told state District Judge Mark Ellis during a scheduling hearing that the office will seek death for Harlem Lewis III at his January trial.
