After working for the Houston Independent School District for 10 years, Media Relations Specialist Norm Uhl has been recommended for termination.
Media Relations Senior Manager Jason Spencer said that their office lost one specialist as a result of the recent budget cuts and it became necessary to reevaluate personnel.
Spencer said that the termination process is ongoing and not finalized, but he would begin the search for a new senior media relations specialist once the position is officially open.
“I personally hold Norm Uhl in high esteem and thank him for his service to the children of HISD,” he said.
InstantNewsWestU contacted Uhl about the situation, but he declined comment.

Sounds to me like what happened to another 10 yr communications person at another local school district last year as a result of a change in supts. When they couldn’t run her off by being awful and they couldn’t fire her because she did her job so well, they simply eliminated her position and replaced her with 2 men — younger and with less experience and talent — to do less than the job she did at a combined salary of what she made. How sad that administration can so easily get rid of people who are providing the service that the taxpayers want but the administration fears. He will be fine… he weathered newspapers and school districts and will find another place for his talents.
