Bellaire’s Nature Discovery Center, 7112 Newcastle Drive, is sponsoring its annual free Spring Fling until 3 p.m. Saturday to celebrate Earth Day.
The event combines fun with environmental education, including guided nature hikes, exhibits, information on native plants, interactive crafts and activities for youngsters, live music, food and more.
The Bellaire Environmental and Sustainability Board — the city’s advisory committee on recycling and other environmental issues — is partnering for the event.
Bayou City Play will lead a nature oriented “adventure play” session, showing children how to build structures and play with a wide variety of natural and reused materials, learning valuable skills like independent decision making, planning, and problem solving.
The festival will also feature live animal encounters, children’s crafts and activities, food and drink from PUCS Pop Up Coffee Stop, and live music. Some familiar exhibitors and some newcomers to Spring Fling: Cool Down World, Native Plant Society of Texas, Plant it Forward, Urban Harvest, & Wildlife Center of Texas.
Activities and parking will be at the south end of the park near Evergreen Street.
