Bellaire United Methodist Church will celebrate its annual free Blessing of the Animals from 12 noon-4 p.m. today (April 13) on the front lawn of the church, 4601 Bellaire Blvd. — while “Evelyn’s Bark” will go on from noon-3 p.m. across the street at Evelyn’s Park.
People of all faiths are invited to bring their pets and have them blessed by the church’s pastors. All pets are welcome as long as they are friendly and either on a leash or in carriers at all times. That includes dogs, cats, rabbits, birds, reptiles and fish.
Pet adoption agencies and vendors will also be on hand. For more, contact the church at 713-666-6127.
Evelyn’s Bark is being promoted as “A Dog Day in the Park.” The city of Bellaire has granted special permission for the one day for dogs to be in the park, from which they are normally banned.
It’s an opportunity for pet owners and families to enjoy an afternoon in the park with their pets while visiting with vendors and animal support groups.
