Another air scare: West U, Bellaire under ozone alert Tuesday

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality declared an “Ozone Action Day” for Tuesday for the Houston, Galveston and Brazoria areas, including Bellaire and West University Place, alerting people with health issues to stay indoors and motorists to curtail their driving.

Here is the message, which includes suggested responses:

ATMOSPHERIC CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED TO BE FAVORABLE FOR PRODUCING 

HIGH LEVELS OF OZONE POLLUTION IN THE HOUSTON…GALVESTON AND 

SURROUNDING AREAS ON TUESDAY. YOU CAN HELP PREVENT OZONE POLLUTION BY 

SHARING A RIDE…WALKING…RIDING A BICYCLE…TAKING YOUR LUNCH TO 

WORK…AVOIDING DRIVE THROUGH LANES…CONSERVING ENERGY AND KEEPING YOUR

VEHICLE PROPERLY TUNED.
