As tropical storm nears, West U closes down offices, non-emergency services

September 13, 2021 by Charlotte Aguilar

West U is cutting back to essential services only as it prepares for Tropical Storm Nicholas — closing city facilities Monday afternoon (Sept. 13) through Tuesday, suspending trash and yard waste collections, and postponing Monday night’s City Council meeting for a week.

The shutdown will start at 2 p.m. Monday.

Residents are reminded not to place any waste curbside during the shutdown. Tuesday’s pickup schedule will be shifted to Wednesday.

The City Council meeting, scheduled for 6 p.m. Monday, has been rescheduled to 6 p.m. next Monday, Sept. 20.

West U will update storm information on a dedicated webpage at www.westutx.gov/nicholas, and on its social media platforms: @cityofwestu on Twitter, WestUniversityPlaceTX on Instagram, and City of West University Place TX — City Government on Facebook.
