HISD’s Athletic Department is sponsoring a benefit basketball game to help raise money for the family of Tobi Oyedeji on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
The seniors from Bellaire’s basketball team and the seniors from Yates basketball team will play an exhibition game to help raise money to help the family of Tobi Oyedeji pay for his funeral.
Tobi Oyedeji was a senior basketball player at Bellaire High School, who died in a car accident on Sunday.
He was on his way home from an after prom event when his silver Toyota Avalon crossed over the median into northbound traffic in the 14100 block of S. Main and crashed head-on into a green Jeep Patriot, killing the driver of the other vehicle. He also struck a Honda civic, but the driver had minor injuries and was treated and released at the scene.
Tobi Oyedeji was taken to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was treated, but died from his injuries.
He would have been 18 years old this Friday.
The benefit basketball game will be held at Delmar Field House, 2020 Mangum.
Tickets are $5 at the door.
