Weather Update: Bellaire Area Under Flood Advisory until 2:15 p.m.

January 25, 2012 by Bellaire Essentials Staff Leave a Comment

The National Weather Service has issued a flood advisory for the Bellaire area.

The flood warning is in effect until 2:15 p.m.

So far today, rainfall reports of 1.68 inches have been received at a monitoring station at Brays Bayou and Bellaire Boulevard.

The National Weather Service is warning residents not to drive into areas where water covers the roadway. Flood waters are usually deeper than they appear and just one foot of flowing water is powerful enough to sweep vehicles off the road.

Rain can fall one to three inches per hour, causing street flooding in urban areas.

Showers and thunderstorms are expected throughout the afternoon.
