Bellaire Boulevard Construction Making Its Way Into West U. City Limits

July 25, 2008 by Essentials Staff Leave a Comment

West U. residents will soon see a hand-delivered notice from the city informing them that the Bellaire Boulevard/College Avenue Improvement Project is about to make its way into West U. city limits.
The notice informs residents along Bellaire Boulevard, Riley Street and College Avenue that the contractor will provide notice no less than three days before construction begins in specific areas. During construction, workers will leave half of the street open when possible, but some paving, material deliveries and heavy equipment maneuvering will require total closure of some sections of roadway.
“Thank you for your patience as we work through this period to achieve the necessary transportation and drainage improvements to our city. It is our goal to endeavor to make this as palatable as possible,” reads the notice.
The tentative schedule for work inside city limits is: Weslayan from Bellaire Blvd. to Riley, storm sewer and paving: Aug. 13 - Nov. 15; Weslayan from Riley to Marquette, 30” storm sewer and paving: Nov. 6 - Dec. 26; Riley Street, storm sewer and paving: Oct. 1 - Nov. 26; College Avenue, storm sewer and paving: Oct. 28 - March 16, 2009.
