Bellaire Centennial History Walk, Dedication Ceremony To Be Held On Saturday

The Bellaire community is invited to take a walking tour of the city during the City of Bellaire’s Centennial History Walk on Saturday, March 5.

The Bellaire community is invited to take a walking tour of the city during the City of Bellaire’s Centennial History Walk on Saturday, March 5.

The walk is a joint effort of the Bellaire Cultural Arts Commission, the Bellaire Historical Society and the Bellaire Centennial Committee in honor of the city’s centennial celebration 1908-2008.

The walking tour features 10 historical locations, including:

- City Hall, Community Center and Library

- Original Bellaire School Building, 1914

- Bellaire Mission Presbyterian Church, 1919

- Trolley Dedication Day, 1910

- Bellaire Trolley Station and Pavilion, 1911

- Rosner’s General Store and US Post Office, 1929

- “The Little Brown” Bellaire’s First One-Room School

- Alfred Condit House, Damaged in 1915 Hurricane

- Convent of the Incarnate Word, 1931

- Home of Frank S. Henshaw, Jr., Mayor, 1933-1937

The event also includes a dedication ceremony at 12 p.m. in Paseo Park, near the trolley at S. Rice and Bellaire Boulevard.

Speakers include Mayor Cindy Siegel, City Manager Bernie Satterwhite and Historical Society President Kay Hieronymus.
