Candidate packets for the Nov. 8 Bellaire City Council election are now available on the city’s website.
Four positions will expire on Jan. 9, 2012 including mayor, councilmember position 2, 4 and 6.
The Bellaire city charter limits service to two consecutive four-year terms for council members and four consecutive two-year terms as mayor.

The term for mayor will begin on Jan. 9 and end on Jan. 6, 2014. The terms for the open council seats will begin on Jan. 9 and end on Jan. 4, 2016.
To be eligible as a candidate in the upcoming election, residents must be a U.S. citizen, be 21 years of age or older on the first day of the term, have not been determined mentally incompetent by a final judgment of a court, have not been convicted of a felony and have lived in the City of Bellaire for 12 months preceding the filing deadline.
The first day to file for a place on the ballot is Aug. 8. The last day to file is Sept. 7 at 5 p.m.
