The Bellaire City Council had a mid-year review of the 2010 fiscal year budget at their regular meeting Monday night.
City Manager Bernard Satterwhite, Jr. presented a power point presentation to council, which showed that the city has spent 62 percent of their enterprise fund.
The city decided not to fill some positions this year to keep some positions frozen; they deferred projects and changed their health insurance for employees, in order to save money.
The city got rid of their fuel storage tanks and is using fuel cards instead. They get a rebate on the cards so they can fill up at any station for a set price.
“[The fuel cards] are working out really well,” Satterwhite said.
About 55 percent of the city’s revenue comes from property taxes, he said.
For the 2010 general fund revenue projections, as estimated $68,000 will come from sales tax, $35,800 in property tax, $300,000 in fines and $180,000 in investments, according to the presentation.
During the meeting, council approved the final payment of the Evergreen Park Pool Bathhouse Repair Project, of $8,435.80 to Structura Design and Construction. The Evergreen Park Pool Bathhouse is finally complete, Director of Facilities Management Karl Miller said.
Council also approved the timetable for the sale of $6 million for the Rebuild Bellaire Bond Program Phase 3, which is projected to be sold on May 17.
The adoption of an ordinance of emergency response services was put off for another meeting.
Council approved a resolution to adopt a policy to restrict funds for the purchase or acquisition of parkland.
