Bellaire recently had two new mayors running the city.
Mayor Cindy Siegel proclaimed Bellaire residents John and William Hammond as “Mayors for the Day” during Monday night’s council meeting.
“One of the fun things about being mayor is being able to work with kids in the community,” Siegel said.
Siegel said she’s known John and William since they were little. They participate in city events and during Hurricane Ike, they offered to go out and help their neighbors and the city recover, she said.
Some of the perks of being mayor for the day includes touring the fire and police stations and meeting with department heads.
John and William’s aunt, Lynne Skinner purchased the “Mayor for the Day” recognition at the Patrons for Bellaire Parks Wine and Tapas Gala on Sept. 30.
The twins will be 13 years old on Dec. 13.
