Council may approve the creation of the Sunset Review Committee, during tonight’s meeting at 7 p.m.

During its Monday night meeting at 7 p.m., Bellaire City Council may approve the creation of an ad hoc committee to review each city board, commission and committee.

Council discussed the idea for the establishment of a Sunset Review Committee on Sept. 13. The committee’s goal would be to help council with the review of its existing boards, commissions and committees and to update the city’s Board Handbook.

Nine members will be appointed to the committee to serve for one year. Councilmember Andrew Friedberg was nominated by council to serve as the chair of the committee.

Council has asked each board, commission and committee to appoint one of its members to serve on the Sunset Committee.

Bellaire residents Lynn McBee and Pat McLaughlan were interviewed by council on Oct. 18 for the citizen positions.

Council may approve an ordinance that establishes the Sunset Review Committee as an ad hoc committee, during tonight’s meeting.
