The Bellaire City Council on Monday will consider a maximum price of $6.4 million for the construction of Phase One at Evelyn’s Park.
The council is scheduled to consider a contribution of $1.36 million from the Evelyn’s Park Conservancy, which will be used along with $5 million in Bellaire bond funds, to build the new park at Bellaire Blvd. and Newcastle.
The Constituency’s total contribution will be $1,362,541 to start construction at the long-awaited park on the old Teas Nursery property. The Rubenstein Foundation has donated $304,000 for the construction of a Memorial Garden, in honor of Evelyn Rubenstein for whom the park is named.
The council also will meet in a special executive session to discuss legal issues related to the construction of the Shoppes at Uptown Crossing near the city’s northern boundary.
City engineers have expressed concern that the new real estate development could cause flooding in that area of Bellaire.
The council will meet in executive session at 6 p.m., with the regular session scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
