Bellaire closes pools after 3 employees test positive for COVID-19

September 14, 2020 by Charlotte Aguilar

The city of Bellaire closed its Family Aquatic Center and Evergreen Pool Monday (Sept. 14) after learning that three employees at the facilities had tested positive for COVID-19.

The pools are scheduled to reopen next Monday (Sept. 21) after being thoroughly cleaned and disinfected.

Through a news release, city officials reported that the three employees had worked at Evergreen Pool on the afternoons of Sept. 7 and 11, but confirmed to EssentialsNews.com that they had also worked at the three-pool aquatics center.

Because safety protocols are in place, officials are downplaying the risk to patrons of the pools, calling it “low as there was limited exposure.”

Fellow employees who could have had more prolonged exposure have been identified and are observing protocols, according to the news release.
