A man arrived at the Bellaire Police Department last on Wednesday afternoon to turn himself in for breaking into cars. After the man confessed, an officer went to the 5000 block of Mayfair to located a vehicle that had been burglarized. The officer found a vehicle with a broken driver’s side window. The suspect was placed in custody and charged with criminal mischief, Class B.
Bellaire police also took reports from three residents who said that unknown persons had used their identifying information to file false income tax returns with the Internal Revenue Service.
Bellaire officers responded to an aggravated robbery of two students in a parking lot at Bellaire High School. The two victims told police on Tuesday, March 10 that two suspects approached their vehicle in the parking lot at 8200 Ferris St. and asked to use their cell phone. During the contact, the victims stated one of the subjects displayed a black hand gun, telling them to give them all their money and cell phones.
On March 8, two Bellaire officers were dispatched to the 6600 block of Ferris in regard to a robbery involving an auto theft. The victim
told police that he met four individuals and was going to talk to them. The victim said two of the individuals pinned him down, while the other subjects took his keys and ran away. The victim stated he broke loose from the suspects, ran to the parking lot and observed his car leaving the premises.
On March 12, Bellaire officers responded to a fight in progress in the 5900 block of IH 610 main lanes of the freeway. A man was detained and the woman off. She was later stopped by officers and she had signs of being assaulted. She stated her boyfriend assaulted her and she provided a written statement to that fact. The man was arrested for aggravated assault.
On March 7, a Bellaire officer went to the Randall’s grocery store in the 5100 block of Bellaire Blvd, where a man was arrested for shoplifting. Loss prevention employees had observed the man removing items from the shelves and placing the items inside his coat pocket before exiting the store and not paying for them.
On March 8, a woman went to the Bellaire police station shortly before 5 p.m., to report that an unknown suspect took her cell phone two days earlier. The incident happened in the 5200 block of Bissonnet.
At about 9:30 a.m. on March 9, a Bellaire officer was dispatched to the 6700 block of IH 610 in regard to a burglary of a building. The complainant told police that unknown suspects had forced entry into several offices located within one suite.
A Bellaire officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle going 92 mph in the 60 mph speed zone in the 7600 block of IH 610 on March 10. The officer had to pursue the suspect for about for about four miles. The driver of the vehicle was arrested and transported to the Bellaire Jail at 4:01 a.m., for the offense of evading arrest using a motor vehicle.
Bellaire police officers last week arrested three drivers for DWI.
The driver of a white 2007 Dodge Nitro was arrested on March 6, at about 10:30 p.m., after a Bellaire officer observed the man failing to maintain a single lane of traffic in the 7500 block of IH 610. The driver was determined to be intoxicated and was arrested.
On March 7, Bellaire police were called at 1:06 a.m. by a motorist in the 4800 block of Bellaire Blvd. about a possible DWI in progress. Two officers arrested the suspect in the 6900 block of S. Braeswood, where he was charged with DWI.
Shortly before midnight on March 10, a Bellaire police officer stopped the driver of a red 2009 Camaro for speeding and weaving in and out of traffic lanes in the 6000 block of IH 610. The driver was arrested and charged with DWI, after providing breath samples that showed he was above the legal limit.
Bellaire police also arrested two people for possession of marijuana on March 7.
In the first case, at 4:20 a.m., an officer was dispatched to the 5100 block of Beech to investigate a suspicious vehicle parking in a driveway. The suspect was found passed out in a vehicle. The suspect was found to be in possession of 4 grams of marijuana.
At 11:10 a.m., a Bellaire officer conducted a traffic stop at 500 Wilmington Dr. The office detected the odor of marijuana coming from the suspect’s vehicle. Two other officers stopped by to provide assistance, and the officer found marijuana in a plastic baggy located in the suspect’s backpack.
