Bellaire police last week responded to an aggravated robbery, two burglaries of buildings, three motor vehicle burglaries and one case of motor vehicle theft.
On Thursday, June 25, a Bellaire officer was dispatched to 5867 Bissonnet, where a victim had been robbed at gunpoint. The victim told police that an unknown black man walked up, brandished a weapon and stole the victim’s belongings.
A Bellaire officer was dispatched to a building at 6565 West Loop South at about 6:30 a.m. on Friday, June 19.The officer found that unknown persons had forced entry into the business through a glass window using rocks, and had stolen various items.
On Thursday, June 25, at about 4:50 p.m., a Bellaire officer responded to 4710 Bellaire Blvd. in reference to a report of a motor vehicle burglary. The investigation revealed that the incident was a theft from a building.
On Tuesday, June 23, a Bellaire officer responded to a motor vehicle theft in the 100 block of McTighe. The victim had parked her vehicle in the driveway, when she and her husband noticed the vehicle leaving the driveway. The victim had not given permission to anyone to use the vehicle. The vehicle was later recovered and a suspect was charged with motor vehicle theft.
On Friday, June 19,a Bellaire officer was dispatched to the 4400 block of Basswood Lane to investigate a burglary of a vehicle. The officer made contact with the victim, who said that sometime between 12:10 p.m. and 12:20 p.m., an unknown person forced entry into the victim’s vehicle and removed several items.
Another motor vehicle burglary was reported to Bellaire Police on Tuesday, June 23.
A Bellaire officer met with the complainant, at 6330 West Loop South, who observed his vehicle’s front driver side keyhole damage. The victim discovered that the vehicle had been rummaged through, and several items had been stolen.
On Wednesday, June 24, a Bellaire officer investigated a burglary of a motor vehicle in the 7000 block of Fifth St. The officer spoke with the victim, who said that the right rear passenger window had been broken and items were stolen from the vehicle.
On Tuesday, June 23, a resident of the 4500 block of Mayfair contacted Bellaire police to report that his vehicle had been vandalized. Bellaire officers spoke to the victim and gathered information for a report.
Bellaire police last week also investigated two incidents of assault by family members.
On June 18, a Bellaire officer was dispatched to the 5300 block of Bissonnet at about 9:22 p.m., in reference to a disturbance call. The officer spoke to the victims, who said they were assaulted in the parking lot. The incident was listed as “simple assault: causing bodily injury; family member.”
Shortly after 9:10 p.m. on June 22, a Bellaire officer was dispatched to a domestic incident in the 4500 block of Medinah. A woman told police that she was attempting to kick her son out of the residence, and the son did not want to leave. A “scuffle” between the woman and her son ensued. The case was listed as “simple assault: assault causing bodily injury; family member.”
Bellaire police also responded to two shoplifting incidents last week.
A store manager at 5419 Bellaire Blvd. flagged down a Bellaire officer on June 20, to report a theft that had occurred the previous evening. The manager advised the officer that a black man had stolen two pairs of headphones from the display stand in the store.
On Tuesday, June 23, an officer was dispatched to 5130 Bellaire Blvd., where a loss prevention agent had detained a woman for shoplifting. The woman was attempting to leave the store without paying for two black eyeliners.
Bellaire officers also investigated several cases of identity theft last week.
On June 19, a Bellaire officer met with a complainant in the 500 block of Chelsea, who reported that unknown persons had attempted to obtain loans using the complainant’s personal information. The case was listed as identity theft.
On June 23, a Bellaire resident went to the Bellaire police department to report that his credit card had been stolen and used. The incident was listed as credit or debit card abuse.
On June 24, a Bellaire officer met with a resident of the 600 block of Mulberry Lane in regard to identity theft. The victim received letters in the mail regarding accounts that had been opened, using her personal information. The woman told police that she had not opened the accounts and had not given anyone consent to use her information to open any accounts. The case was listed as identity theft.
On June 25, a Bellaire officer met with a resident of the 4800 block of Spruce St. about another case of identity theft. The officer discovered that unknown suspects had been transferring money from the victim’s retirement account into a bank account that had been opened using the victim’s personal information.
On June 19, at 3:11 a.m., two Bellaire officers were dispatched to the 5800 block of Bissonnet, in regard to a subject passed out behind the wheel of a silver Chevrolet Silverado. The driver was arrested for driving while intoxicated.
At approximately 2:30 a.m. on June 25, a Bellaire officer observed the driver of a white Ford Mustang traveling at a very high rate of speed run several red lights between the 4400 and 5200 blocks of Bellaire Blvd. The officer initiated a traffic stop and upon further investigation, the suspect was arrested for driving while intoxicated and unlawfully carrying weapons.
Bellaire police last week also arrested several persons who were operating motor vehicles in the city without valid driver’s’ licenses.
