Four identity theft crimes were reported in Bellaire from April 15th to the 22nd, according to the latest Bellaire Police Department Weekly Crime Report. Driving violations and burglaries also yielded multiple crimes.
The first identity theft crime was reporter on April 15 an officer at the Bellaire Police Department lobby met with a victim who stated that an unknown suspect filed their 2015 taxes using the victim’s identifying information.
The next identity theft crime occurred on April 17. The victim stated to a police officer in the lobby of the Bellaire Police Department that some had used her credit card at a Best Buy without her consent. An identity theft report was filed. On April 19, a victim at the Bellaire Police Station stated that an unknown person used his identity to obtain credit from two different merchants.
The last reported identity theft crime was on April 20. A victim called the Bellaire Police Department to report that at an unknown time, an unknown suspect used the victim’s identifying information without her consent.
Three driving violations were reported this past week. The first occurred on April 17. An officer patrolling the 4700 block of Fournace Place saw a vehicle travelling with expired registration and expired insurance. The office conducted a traffic stop and learned the driver had a suspended license. The driver was placed in custody.
That same day, a different officer saw a vehicle travelling eastbound on the 5000 block of Mimosa Street run a stop sign. The officer conducted a traffic stop and found the driver to be in possession of a suspended license and previous conviction for driving with an invalid license.
On April 18, two officers were dispatched to the 6700 block of West Service Road of West Loop South in response to a disabled vehicle. The officers made contact with the driver and it was determined the driver was driving while intoxicated. The driver was subsequently arrested.
Two burglaries were reported to the West U police. The first was on April 16 when an officer was dispatched to 4500 Bissonnet Street to meet a reportee in regards to a burglary of a building. The reportee stated to the officer that an unknown person forced their way into the business after hours and attempted to break into a safe.
The second theft crime reported was on April 19 when a person stated to an officer that a person took the wallet out of her purse from the office at the 5200 block of Bellaire Boulevard.

On April 15 an officer patrolling the 4500 block of Bellaire Boulevard saw a vehicle with defective tail lights. A traffic stop was conducted and during the interview the driver admitted to having been smoking marijuana. The passenger told the officer that the driver ate the marijuana. The driver was arrested for tampering with physical evidence.
On April 16 an officer heard a report on the Houston Police Department radio channel about a disabled and abandoned vehicle in the area of West Loop South and WestPark Drive. The officer arrived at the scene and saw the vehicle in the grass north of the U-Turn, resting against a telephone pole. A lane directions sign had been knocked down and was stuck underneath the vehicle. The officer made contact with the registered owner of the vehicle who admitted to the officer that he crashed the vehicle and got a ride a home. The officer contacted Harris County District Attorney’s office and filed a ‘To-Be’ Warrant.
On April 18, an officer was dispatched to the HEB grocery story in reference to a forgery call. Upon the officer’s arrival, the complainant told the officer that a male attempted to buy a gift card using counterfeit money.
On April 21, two officers were dispatched to the 4700 block of Pine Street to check on an abandoned vehicle. The officers checked the license plate and the return showed the car to be stolen. The vehicle was towed to a state approved storage lot.
