Bellaire Cultural Arts Commission To Sponsor TRASHformation Art Contest

The Bellaire Cultural Arts Commission is sponsoring an ART CONTEST—TRASHformation, in connection with the second annual Bellaire Recycles Day on Saturday.

The contest will be held at Bellaire Recycles Day on Saturday, Nov. 13 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 7008 South Rice Blvd in the parking lot with the water tower at Town Square.  Entrants are divided into four divisions: grades K-4; grades 5-8, grades 9-12 and adults.

Materials used must have been manufactured and would otherwise have been trash. New fastening materials such as glue, tape, screws and nails are permitted. Materials from nature are not allowed.

The entry due date is Saturday, Nov. 13 between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. Entrants should bring their artwork no later than 10 a.m. to the Bellaire Recycles Day event, with the appropriate entry form attached. Entry forms are available at the Bellaire Library, City Hall, Public Works and Parks and Recreation offices.

All contestants will be judged on use of recyclable materials, environmental relevance/message, creativity, composition, originality, level of effort. Winners will be announced at 12 p.m. Prizes will be awarded for first place in each division. Ribbons will be awarded to first, second and third place winners.

All artwork must be picked up by 1 p.m. at the conclusion of the event.
