Average retail gasoline prices in Bellaire dropped another half-penny in the past week to an average of $3.49 per gallon as of yesterday.
Bellaire’s gas average lagged behind the national average, which fell 2.8 cents per gallon in the last week to $3.77, according to gasoline price website HoustonGasPrices.com.
GasBuddy.com senior petroleum analyst Patrick DeHaan said he expects the national trend to continue downward, driven in part by falling prices in California.
“The national average has again seen a decrease in the last week, as California joins much of the rest of the United States in seeing lower prices,” DeHaan said. “Even though there hasn’t been a massive decline in California retail prices, the fact that prices have stopped rising there has helped tip the national average lower. In the week ahead, we could continue to see declines as wholesale prices fell lower late last week, meaning gas stations have additional room to drop their prices.”
Including the change in gas prices in Bellaire during the past week, prices yesterday were 27.9 cents per gallon higher than the same day one year ago are 13.8 cents per gallon lower than a month ago.
The national average has decreased 9.0 cents per gallon during the last month and stands 29.6 cents per gallon higher than this day one year ago.
