Bellaire H.S. Chess Team Wins State Tournament

The Bellaire High School Chess team won the Team Championship for the third year in a row at the Texas State Scholastic Tournament in Dallas Feb. 19 to 21. The tournament at UT-Dallas pits all high school grades against each other. Junior Matthew Michaelides took 2nd place in the tournament, and senior William Ong took the 3rd place. Joining them on the 1st place team were Jeff Feng and George Fan. Next on the Chess Team’s calendar is a huge tournament in Columbus, Ohio on April 16 – 18, the USCF National Championship.
