As part of the Houston Independent School District’s “Principal For a Day,” executives from Capital One will act as principals at Bellaire High School on Friday, Oct. 17.

The program invites committed civic leaders to “shadow” principals for the day to gain a better understanding of the rewards and demands of educational leadership. This year’s program will be held from 8 a.m.-1:30 p.m. School visits will be 8 a.m.-11:30 a.m., after which there will be a noon luncheon at the Westin Galleria Hotel, 5060 West Alabama. Mayor Bill White, HISD Superintendent Abe Saavedra, and Paul Davidson, Houston president of Capital One Bank, will host the luncheon.

“Community participation is a powerful catalyst for establishing ongoing partnerships between the private sector and public schools,” said Saavedra. “This innovative program fosters the kind of relationships which can lead participants to become even more involved in the education of Houston’s youth.”
