
Bellaire police are looking for eyewitnesses to an apparent road rage incident Friday night (Feb. 17) on the West Loop at Fournace Place that ended in a local man being shot in the leg, two Houston television stations reported.
Investigators closed the southbound lanes of the freeway around 7:30 p.m. after responding to a call from a residence in the 6500 block of Avenue B near Feld Park, according to accounts from Fox 26 News and KPRC-TV.
They reportedly found a 54-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the leg. He said been traveling south on 610 when he got into a minor accident with a white Dodge pickup truck pulling an empty black trailer. An altercation ensued, according to the news reports, and the Bellaire man said the driver of the truck shot at him several times, striking him once, then left the scene.
The gunshot victim was able to drive to his home just inside the Loop and was transferred to Memorial Hermann Hospital in the Texas Medical Center. His wound was not life threatening, according to the news reports.
Criminal investigators from the BPD closed the southbound lanes between the Southwest Freeway and Bellaire Boulevard for about 2 ½ hours. They are asking anyone with information about the incident to call 713-668-0487.
