After arresting two men for criminal trespass in late February, Bellaire police determined the suspects had committed two home burglaries in the city during the month.
Police charged Jason Stevenson, 30, and Ryan Shaw, 21, with burglary of a habitation for breaking into homes in the 4900 block of Imperial on Feb. 15, and in the 4500 block of Oleander on Feb. 20.
The two men were first arrested on Feb. 26 after a Bellaire resident saw them hiding behind a vehicle across the street from her house. She called police, who arrested the pair for criminal trespass after finding them hiding in the backyard of a house. The men had a laptop that had been reported stolen in a home burglary in the Woodlands earlier that morning.
Noticing similarities between that Woodlands burglary and some cases in Bellaire, a police detective interviewed Stevenson and Shaw. Both admitted they had committed the crimes in Bellaire, according to a police statement.
