The Bellaire Recycling Committee is excited to host the fourth-annual Bellaire Recycles Fest on Saturday, Nov. 3 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 7008 South Rice Blvd (near City Hall).
It is being held in conjunction with America Recycles Day, an annual campaign to raise awareness and educate citizens on the economic, social and environmental benefits of reducing and recycling.
The Fest will feature kids’ activities, educational information, area businesses that focus on “green” eco-friendly goods and services. Also, organizations will collect items for reuse/recycling.
Planet Gain will collect unwanted clothing/material, J D Metals will collect scrap metal and car batteries, CompuCycle will collect electronics, the Bellaire Lions Club will collect eyeglasses, and Tradition Bank is sponsoring free and secure paper shredding. CenterPoint Energy will bring natural gas and hybrid vehicles, and the committee also expects to have at least one food truck on hand.
The committee is currently seeking sponsors to assist with funding for the Fest. There are four levels for business sponsorships, opportunities for in-kind sponsorships and new this year — two sponsorship levels for individuals/families and children.
The committee is also seeking businesses and organizations interested in participating in the event. Any individual non-profit organizations (such as Boy Scout, Cub Scout or Girl Scout troops), Bellaire-area businesses or companies wishing to showcase eco-friendly products or services at the event are all welcome to discuss having a booth at the event.
