Bellaire Resident Shot By BPD Officer

A Bellaire resident was shot by Bellaire police around 2 a.m. this morning in the 800 block of Woodstock near Evergreen. The resident shot has been identified as 23-year-old Robert Tolan.

 

Apparently, police mistakenly believed the 2004 Nissan Xterra Tolan was driving was stolen, and approached Tolan and his passengers as they returned to Tolan’s house. An altercation ensued, and a 10-year veteran of the police department shot Tolan, who was transported to Ben Taub Hospital for surgery. According to reports, Tolan is in stable condition.

 

The incident is under investigation.
