Bellaire sets 4-bag limit set for trash

Beginning March 1, the city of Bellaire will discontinue commercial trash service and set a lower bag limit for the twice-weekly residential trash pickup.

    The article as it appears omits an important fact. The main reason I voted against the changes was that effective 3/1/12, the curbside opt-out provision for senior citizens (65 and older) and disabled citizens will be eliminated.
    Effective 3/1/12 all citizens whether or not they utilize curbside recycling will be billed by the city for that service. In essence the new provision is an increase in fees for those unable or unwilling to participate in curbside recycling.
