Bellaire Starts Removing Flood Debris

The city of Bellaire has started removing debris associated with the 2015 Memorial Day flood, using the contractor DRC., Inc. The company’s collection trucks with have white placards, with a navy blue DRC logo.
City officials, who initially estimated that 100 Bellaire homes had been damaged by the flood, now say that at least 250 homes sustained flood damage. The city is waiving all permit fees for reconstruction of flood-related damage, but permits are still required.
Debris removal will continue for the next one or two days, to start. The contractor will be working with the city until all debris has been collected.
The city’s regular garbage collection schedule will continue, and residents are asked to keep that trash separated from storm-related debris.
DRC will not collect household trash and will not pick up debris that is not placed at curbside.
DRC has asked residents to place debris in six separate categories, shown in the flyer here:
