One day after the state unveiled a phased reopening of public facilities, Bellaire has announced plans for a limited reopening of some city facilities Friday (May 1) and Monday (May 4) — with anyone visiting municipal buildings still being asked to wear face coverings, sanitize their hands and practice social distancing.
Reopening Friday are tennis courts through online reservations here, and athletic fields (courts and fields each limited to four people at a time), batting cages, and park restrooms.
Playgrounds and structures, the Officer Lucy Dog Park, Bellaire Recreation Center, Family Aquatics Center, and Evergreen Pool and therapy pool will remain closed.
On Monday, the Bellaire Library will resume its curbside service from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Friday and Saturday for customers to pick up books they place on hold by calling 713-662-8160 or going online here. The library is located at 5111 Jessamine St.
Some services at City Hall and the police/courts building will also be offered again starting Monday.
The customer service lobby at City Hall, 7008 S. Rice Ave., will be open from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday to deal with utility billing and permitting services, although the city is still encouraging use of email or mail instead.
One utility window will be open for walk-up customers to pay bills and purchase trash bags and recycling bins. Those with permit business must schedule an appointment at least 24 hours in advance through this website.
Customers are asked to continue paying bills and permit fees online whenever possible through the portal on the city’s website.
The B-LIFE center, serving seniors at the City Hall/Civic Center, remains closed, with weekly games and other activities being provided through the Bellaire Parks and Recreation Facebook page.
At the Norman-Zarate Police and Municipal Courts Building, 5111 Jessamine St., the court customer service window will be open from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Court won’t be in session again until June.
