Bellaire woman on motorized scooter struck, killed in Triangle accident

A Bellaire woman died Friday morning (July 19) when she drove her motorized scooter into the path of a pickup truck at the Bellaire Triangle.

The victim’s identity won’t be released by authorities until her family is notified.

Bellaire police said the woman was struck when she pulled onto Bissonnet Street from a driveway between a restaurant and a tire shop near Mapleridge in the busy downtown retail area shortly after 9 a.m. Bissonnet was closed while the scene was cleared and an investigation begun.

The truck driver was not injured. He stopped and cooperated with officers and did not appear to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol, according to reporting by ABC-13. Sgt. Dan Kerr told Essentials the driver was not at fault.
