The closure of the railroad crossing at Bissonnet this weekend is the first of three closings Union Pacific has planned to address safety and drivability issues where motorists cross the tracks.
Bissonnet will be closed from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, March 21 and March 22. Traffic will be detoured down Weslayan and Newcastle.
The Bellaire Boulevard crossing will be closed from 7 p.m.-5 a.m. March 28 and March 29. Those same days, the Beechnut crossing will close from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Union Pacific has agreed to have police officers on duty during detour hours.
