Councilmember George Boehme is looking to sell Edloe Deli.

West U City Councilmember George Boehme is hoping to sell Edloe Street Café and Deli and has been looking for prospective buyers for several months now.

“Everything I own is for sale,” Boehme said. “I never intended to be in the business for that long.”

Boehme, who has owned Edloe Deli since 2008, said he’s been telling people for months that he wants to sell the restaurant.

Edloe Deli’s Chef E.I. Thomas is interested in buying the restaurant, but negotiations are not final, Boehme said.

Thomas has not returned calls seeking comment, but InstantNewsWestU will update this story if he does.

Edloe Café Express was the concessionaire for Colonial Park Pool this summer, but it will no longer be catering for the city.

Boehme made the decision to no longer cater for West U after Mayor Bob Kelly made comments during a July 19 council meeting that the city was seen in a negative light for having a council member’s business as the city concessionaire.

West U City Council unanimously approved Edloe Street Café’ and Deli as the concessionaire for Colonial Park Pool during its April 12 meeting. Edloe Street Café’ and Deli was the only business to bid on the Colonial Park concessionaire contract.

Boehme said his experience as a restaurateur has been an “educational experience.”

He said he is not sure what’s next for him.
