A major portion of West University’s Buffalo Speedway project has been completed, with the installation of about 13,000 linear feet of new storm sewer boxes, city officials report.
The installation extends from the outfall at Poor Farm Ditch behind St. Vincent De Paul Church at Holcombe Street, along Buffalo Speedway to Bissonnet Street.
Junction box connections at intersections with Pittsburg, Duke and University Boulevard still need to be completed, along with paving of curb inlets, roadway and driveway aprons on the east and west sides of Buffalo Speedway between Holcombe and Rice boulevards.
Begun in 2021, the $23 million project includes both drainage improvements and roadway upgrades along and near Buffalo Speedway. Officials say it is on track to be completed in early 2023.
