Burglars Break Into Sewanee Home, Police Remind Residents To Set Alarms

July 21, 2011 by Essentials Staff Leave a Comment

The West U Police Department is investigating a burglary of a residence that occurred on Wednesday in the 6500 block of Sewanee.
The burglars forced entry into the home through a door near the back yard between 6:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m.
Several items were stolen from the house, but details about the items could not be released at this time, Capt. Thad Olive said.
The residents were not home during the break-in and they discovered that their house had been burglarized when they came home, Olive said.
The name of the homeowners was not immediately available.
The house has an alarm system, he said, but it was not set.
Olive said that residents should always set their alarms, lock the house and keep the shades down.
“Don’t advertise your stuff,” he said.
There are no witnesses at this time and the incident is still under investigation.
Olive recommended that residents sign up for DirectLink, a security alarm service that will send an alarm signal directly to the city’s communication dispatch center. Emergency responders will be dispatched immediately.
To sign up for DirectLink, contact Trish Cormier at 713-662-5860.
