Two suspects who ran from Bellaire police ended up at Ben Taub Hospital after crashing a stolen car into a telephone pole at SW Freeway and Kirby near midnight Dec. 21.
According to police reports, around 12:45 p.m., an officer saw a man burglarizing a car in the 7400 block of Mapleridge. When the officer tried to stop the suspect, he got into a waiting car and fled. After what police called a “lengthy” pursuit, the car hit the telephone police. The driver, 17-year-old Hugo Gonzalez, and the passenger, 20-year-old Robert Castro, were taken to the hospital, treated, and released to the Bellaire Police Department.
Gonzales was arrested for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and evading with a vehicle, and Castro was arrested for burglary of a motor vehicle.
