Chess Players Earn Three State Championship Titles

Three Bellaire students have earned state championships in their grade levels at the

12th Annual Texas Grade and Collegiate Chess Championships held in Dallas

Nov. 22 and 23. Sophomore Champion Jeff Feng and Junior Co-Champions William Ong and George Fan finished in first place earning the honor of being the best high school players in their grade in the state. The entire team placed 2nd overall.

Team members were Nathan Blackmon, Lokin Casturi, George Fan, Joe Fang, Jeff Feng, Axel Lloyd, Matthew Michaelides, Wolfgang, Minskey, Mengwei Ni, William Ong, Janak Sheth and Ran Zhao. Eleven team members will be going to play in the National

Tournament in Lake Buena Vista, Florida Dec. 11 – 14.
