June 25, 2008 by Essentials Staff Leave a Comment

After a year of closure due to expansion construction, the Children’s Museum EcoStation reopened today. The EcoStation, located on in the museum’s courtyard, is an indoor/outdoor environmental exhibit where visitors engage in ecological studies and explore environmental issues by visiting a native plant garden, a woodland area, the bayou table, the pond and a research pavilion.
Visitors can participate in stream bed creation, insect collecting, tree rubbings, footprint identification and more.
The exhibit includes nature journals, water quality testing, decomposition observation, soil type explorations, home environmental awareness inventory logs, bird feeders and other activities.
Solar energy is now used to power almost the entire exhibit.
