Children’s Museum Seeking Nominations For Outstanding Early Childhood Educators

The Children’s Museum of Houston is seeking an early childhood educator to receive the Marian and Speros Martel Early Childhood Educator Award, presented annually to an outstanding professional that possesses an exemplary commitment to the education of young children in Houston.
The awardee is selected by a committee of education professionals who review numerous nominee applications and observe finalists in their classrooms. The winner will be awarded a $1,000 honorarium and a one-year membership to the Children’s Museum in April 2009.
Candidates must work with children eight years of age and younger, have an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in education, Montessori certification or Child Development Associate Certification and at least five years of current classroom experience. Applications must be received at the Children’s Museum of Houston’s office, 1500 Binz, by 5 p.m. Dec. 8.
