Children’s Museum To Celebrate “Grito de Delores”

September 3, 2008 by Essentials Staff Leave a Comment

Shout it out during Fiestas Patrias with “Grito” reenactment, ballet folklórico and live Mariachi at the Children’s Museum of Houston, 1500 Binz, from 5-8 p.m. during free family night, Sept. 11.
It was on Sept. 15, 1810 when Father Miguel Hidalgo climbed atop a church and encouraged people to fight for Mexico’s independence. This “cry” for liberty marks the anniversary of Mexico’s “Grito de Dolores” and it is celebrated with music, fireworks and parades.
The museum will celebrate Mexico’s fight for freedom by playing traditional games, designing festive banners and providing entertainment through dance and music.
