The Children’s Museum of Houston will hold a New Year’s noon bash to give children an opportunity to ring in 2009 without staying up late. The museum will hold a parade and ball-drop at noon, and a character from Maurice Sendak’s “Where the Wild Things Are” will make an appearance.
Children will have an opportunity to design a float, join the parade and celebrate with noisemakers and pretend fireworks sparklers. The event will also feature a brass band.
The countdown to noon begins at 11:45 a.m. Dec. 31 at the museum, 1500 Binz. Admission to the museum is $5 per person, $4 for seniors 65 and older and free for children under two.
