St. Thomas’ Episcopal Church and School in the coming weeks is hosting an inspirational speaker and a separate golf tournament event to help raise money for church programs. The golf tournament will also benefit children with cancer.
The church is inviting the public to hear a talk by Susan Baker on March 20 at 2 p.m. at The Murray Center, 4900 Jackwood in Houston. Baker is co-founder of the National Alliance to End Homelessness, recipient of the 2007 Eisenhower Leadership Distinguished Public Service Award, and author of the upcoming book, Passing It On: An Autobiography with Spirit. She is married to James A. Baker III, former Secretary of State under President George H.W. Bush. Tickets cost $30, and table sponsorships are also available. For more information, contact Robin L. On March 22, the church is hosting the Kilts and Clubs Charity Golf Classic at the Wildcat Golf Club, 12000 Almeda in Houston. The tournament benefits the St. Thomas’ Episcopal School Scottish Arts Program and the Children’s Cancer Hospital at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center.
