The city of West University said Thursday (June 18) that an employee at the Colonial Park Pool has tested positive for COVID-19 after exposure to the virus at a gathering outside of work on June 13. The pool remains open.
That employee — and other pool staff with “prolonged exposure to the individual” — are under quarantine. The city isn’t releasing names or positions because of privacy considerations.
The pool has been open on a limited schedule by appointment only and with strict guidelines. “…The risk of exposure to residents, staff, or other community members visiting the pool is low, as there was limited prolonged exposure, and proper hygiene and social distancing was being followed,” the city’s statement read.
City Manager Dave Beach said the pool is open “for now.”
