October 31, 2008 by Essentials Staff Leave a Comment

Congressman Ron Paul today announced his endorsement of Dist. 17 Republican candidate Austen Furse.
“I am honored and humbled to have the support someone as decent, forthright and upstanding as Ron Paul. From his seat in the United States Congress, Dr. Paul has worked for decades to protect the taxpayers of our great nation, and I intend to do the same in the Texas Senate,” Furse said. “Dr. Paul has represented a considerable portion of this district for years with great success. He is a true patriot.”
The special election to be held Nov. 4 will fill the vacancy created by Sen. Kyle Janek’s resignation. A runoff will follow if no candidate in the special election gets a majority of the vote. On the ballot are Democrats Chris Bell and Stephanie Simmons and Republicans Joan Huffman, a Southside Place resident and former Harris County felony court judge, Furse, West U. resident, businessman and former George H.W. Bush Administration appointee and Harris County Republican precinct chair Grant Harpold.
