Council May Choose Plan For New Police Station

October 26, 2009 by Essentials Staff Leave a Comment

The city council tonight will discuss three options for the design of the new police station, and they will vote on which design they’d like the architect to continue working on. All three plans also include renovations to the fire station. After a workshop on Oct. 19, it seemed most council members will decide on a plan that would construct a new two-story station attached to city hall at the corner of Auden and University, very near to the current police station.
City staff recommended a different option that would place the new police station at the location of the current Public Works building, but it is likely the council will reject that plan because they don’t want to demolish a 15-year-old building to make room for the new station. Read more here.
This graphic shows the plan that the city council is expected to accept.

Option 6 calls for a new police station near city hall, and renovations to the fire station.
