Council To Consider Approval Of Pool Heater, Design Services For Colonial, Rec. Center

November 10, 2008 by Essentials Staff Leave a Comment

West U. City Council will hold a special meeting at 5:30 p.m. Nov. 10 in the conference room of the Municipal Building, 3800 University Blvd. Council will consider authorizing the Parks and Recreation Department to purchase a new pool heater for the Colonial Park pool. The Parks Department has asked council to approve $20,000 for the heater.
The current heater, purchased two years ago for $16,000, was designed for an enclosed facility. The new heater would be rated for use in an outdoor pool. The architectural firm hired to design the new pool facilities just approved by voters in the $13.8 million bond election will be asked to incorporate both heaters into the design, to eliminate the need to purchase new heaters.
Also during the special meeting, West U. City Manager Michael Ross will recommend that council execute a contract with Pierce, Goodwin, Alexander & Linville for design and construction administration services for the new Colonial Park, Recreation Center and Community Center facilities.
