Council To Interview Former Baytown Finance Director As Possible Replacement For Thomas

September 5, 2008 by Essentials Staff Leave a Comment

West U. City Council will interview Monday, Sept. 8, the recommended candidate to fill the shoes of long-time Financial Director Walter Thomas. The interview will take place at a special council meeting at 5 p.m. in the conference room of the Municipal Building, 3800 University Blvd.
City Manager Michael Ross is recommending council hire Rhonda Daugherty, who was the finance director at the City of Baytown for about 11 years before leaving the city a few months ago.
The interview will take place in a closed session, and Daugherty could begin working for the city in a few weeks, if council approves her appointment.
The city began advertising for a new finance director about a month ago in the hopes that Thomas could take the new hire under his wing for the months before Thomas’s June 2009 retirement.
Thomas originally announced his retirement a couple of years ago, but ended up staying after the city had trouble finding a suitable replacement.
