Bellaire police last week investigated three residential burglaries, the theft of a lap-top computer from a high school student’s locker, and one case of forgery.
Police arrested Peter Tom Arthurs III, 28, who was charged with forgery after he attempted to cash a check on August 26 at the Frost Bank at 6750 West Loop South. A bank teller noted that the check had the bank’s log0, but there appeared to be ere too many digits in the account number. The teller contacted the company named on the check, and a representative stated they did not issue it to the suspect. The teller then contacted Bellaire police who made the arrest.
Police also responded August 26 to Episcopal High School, 4650 Bissonnet, about a stolen lap-top computer. A student told police he left the computer in his backpack in an unsecured locker.
A resident of the 4400 block of Valerie went to the Bellaire police station on August 27 to report a case of identity theft. The resident told police that an unknown person used a company check and signed his name and date of birth on the check. The incident is being investigated.
Police also responded to three residential burglaries on August 28. The first, in the 4700 block of Willow, involved the theft of a television set and Wii game from the residence. Officers made contact with the resident, who stated that forced entry was made through the rear door of the home.
Bellaire police also are investigating the August 28 burglary of a home in the 4900 block of Chestnut, where a resident told police that a bicycle had been stolen from the garage sometime between the hours of 5 p.m. and 9 p.m.
In the third case on August 28, Bellaire police were called by a resident of a home in the 4900 block of Maple. The homeowner told police that a generator had been stolen from his garage.
A patron of restaurant in the 4500 block of Bissonnet was having lunch with his wife on August 28 and did not see the person or persons who broke out the rear window of his vehicle. The man told police that “several boxes of rolled coins” were missing from the vehicle. Bellaire police are investigating.
A resident of the 4900 block of Laurel reported the theft of a bicycle on August 29. The victim told police that he had left his bike parked between the attached garage and the front porch.
