Dance Month at the Kaplan continues its Master Class series with a Jazz Dance Master Class with Dorrell Martin from 2-3:30 p.m. Jan. 25, at the Jewish Community Center, 5601 South Braeswood.
Dorrell Martin is the creator and director of Joffrey Jazz and Contemporary Dance at the Joffrey Ballet School and artistic director of Dorrell Martin Dance Fusion in New York City. Martin has worked with artists such as Emma Bunton, Pink, and Jennifer Lopez. He received Honorable Mention for choreography at the World Jazz Congress. Martin will be setting choreography for a new Disney show this spring. In the summer of 2009, Martin will be guest faulty member for two European dance festivals where his company Dance Fusion will perform. Martin has been artist in residence at Hope College for the past three years. He and his company will be touring the state of Michigan in April. Martin is now working on a project with the creators of “A Dancer’s Life” in an off Broadway show.
