Dominican national charged in West U knifing

September 14, 2016 by Aaron Lewis Leave a Comment

Yesterday, Luis Rafael Sanchez was charged with a West University Place aggravated assault the occurred in the 2700 block of Arbuckle Street about 6:30 p.m, September 4.

Luis Rafael Sanchez was arrested for the West University knifing attack in the 2700 block of Arbuckle Street on September 4.
The victim opened his door to see a knife-wielding disheveled man. Sanchez didn’t get in the home but did stab the victim. Sanchez then escaped in his own automobile by driving north on Wakeforest. The police got his license plate number and that helped in identifying Sanchez.
Sanchez, a Dominican Republic citizen, was already in jail for robbing someone at gunpoint in City of Houston on September 6, only two days after the West U crime occurred.
The Dominican Republic Consulate was notified on September 7 of Sanchez’s detention for the two Texas felony charges.
The West University Police Department has had Sanchez on their radar since his automobile was identified leaving the scene of the Arbuckle Street attack.
Last week, Capt. Thad Olive reported to InstantNewsWestU.com last week that West U officials were optimistic that Sanchez would also be charged in the West U case but more witnesses needed to be interviewed.
Bond was set at $30,000 for the West U charge and $10,000 for the Houston charge. However, the bond amount is moot because of the immigration detainer.
